I will teach teens (14 yrs of age) on up to adults and seniors. My oldest student is 81, so its never too late to start!
WHAT IS YOUR SCHEDULE?
Piano and Music Theory lessons are in 1 hour blocks. I provide morning, afternoon, evening weekday lessons to best fit your schedule.
WHAT LESSONS TO DO YOU OFFER?
Piano lessons are individually customized for each student. The Ezee Piano System focus is for adults and seniors can accomplish piano playing in as little as six months what normally takes
over two and a half years with traditional methods. Once you understand the basics, you tell me what you like and that's what we will play! I support and encourage all styles of music, and
every lesson is tailored to you personally. My own tastes are many and varied, so I'm sure we'll be playing music we both enjoy!
HOW DO I KNOW WHEN I'M READY TO BEGIN PIANO LESSONS?
Ask yourself the following questions:
Do you wish to play the piano for fun, recreation or stress relief?
Do you wish to improve your piano playing skills?
Do you enjoy trying out new things?
Are you motivated by the desire to play the piano?
Are you loooking for a Piano Teacher who will teach you the music you want to play?
If you answered yes to two of those questions, you are ready to begin!
DO YOU OFFER FAMILY LESSONS?
Yes, I teach the Ezee Piano System in groups of four which is ideal for families. Its a wonderful way for parents to participate, study and play the piano along with their teens, setting
aside extra quality family bonding time.
I'M AN OLDER ADULT. IS IT TOO LATE TO START PIANO LESSONS?
It's never to late to learn to play the piano. There are so many positive benefits to making music.
Please check out my Benefits of Playing the Piano page. It's loaded with good reasons to start at any age!
DO YOU OFFER PIANO LESSONS IN MY HOME?
Yes, I will travel to your home for individual lessons. This is a premium service, saving you travel time, gas expenses, not to mention, vehicle wear and tear. Piano lessons in your home
solve a multitude of problems for busy families, working professionals and older adults who appreciate the convenience of having and experienced professional piano teacher travel to their home.
DO I NEED TO OWN A PIANO?
With a piano at home, you will afford the opportunity to progress daily
ARE DIGITAL PIANOS ACCEPTABLE?
Ideally, a digital piano should be full size, (88 keys), with touch sensitive and weighted keys. The keyboard must be able to produce a quiality piano sound and have a sustain pedal.
HOW LONG WILL IT BE BEFORE I CAN PLAY WELL?
That depends on you! Everyone has musical ability, but learning to play an instrument well requires commitment and you won't get very far if you don't practice! It's important to
practice daily if you want to learn quickly and feel confident. And as with exercise, it's much better to do fifteen minutes twice a day than to practice 2 hours on the weekend. Here are
my top tips for pain-free, effective practice:
Know what needs to be done, and work to a plan
Sometimes play straight through your pieces, returning to the hard places later
Sometimes begin with the hard places, practicing small sections thoroughly
What you can't play slowly, you can't play quickly
If you get stuck, stop! Come back later, and try again
Don't practice your mistakes, always establish 'finger memory' before moving on
Enjoy what you play, and vary your work by having other, eaisier peices to play.
HOW LONG IS EACH LESSON, AND HOW OFTEN DO THEY TAKE PLACE?
Each lesson is 1 hour long. If your enjoying what you're doing, the time will fly by. My rates vary,so please call me for a quote.
WHAT TIME SLOTS DO YOU HAVE FREE?
That varies, but I'll be able to give you an up-to-date list of times when arranging your first lesson. I have many people to see in any given week, I try to teach in areas each day and to
arrange regular weekly appointments. I'm able to be rather more flexible with daytime lessons, as children are usually at school and most adult learners work.
DO YOU TEACH COMPLETE BEGINNERS, AND DO I NEED MY OWN INSTRUMENT?
As with all music teachers, the majority of my new students are beginners. Some have a little musical knowledge, others have none at all. When you find a teacher you like and build a
relationship, it's unusual to change. Of course cirmumstances do sometimes dictate otherwise, for example because of relocation or retirement.
You will need an instrument to practice on, if you don't already have one. However, I don't recommend spending large amounts of money, at least to begin with. If you are looking to buy an
instrument, please ask about the special deal I have arranged with a local retailer.
